Morocco police seize 33.4 kilograms of cocaine in Tangier
TANGIER - The provincial judicial police department in the Moroccan city of Tangier opened Tuesday a judicial investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding an attempt to internationally smuggle a shipment of 33.4 kilograms cocaine through the Tangier-Med port.
This shipment of hard drugs was seized inside a metal container that had arrived from Ecuador and was destined for an Italian port. The inspection carried out by the National Security services inside the container's cooling unit resulted in the seizure of 30 plates of cocaine, with a total weight of 33.4 kg.
The Tangier security services are continuing the judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to uncover all the circumstances and background of this case, as well as to track all potential international extensions of this criminal activity.
This case falls within the context of the intensive and continuous security operations conducted by Moroccan security services aimed at combating the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
