Morocco: The new architect of peace in Gaza
RABAT - Morocco's decision to participate in the international stability force in Gaza reflects the depth of its historic commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.
This step is not limited to the security aspect alone but embodies a comprehensive royal vision that combines field support, security expertise, and profound humanitarian depth.
Deploying members of the Moroccan police and specialized officers in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza serves as evidence of the international recognition of the Kingdom's expertise in crisis management and security preservation, positioning it as a field actor, not just a political one.
Rather than settling for sending aid, Morocco focuses on training Palestinian security cadres, contributing to building a Palestinian state capable of professionally and independently managing its security affairs.
Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita revealed in his speech during a Peace Council meeting chaired by the US President on Thursday the Kingdom's full commitment to Trump's vision for achieving peace.
Bourita announced that Morocco has taken the initiative to provide the first historic financial contribution to the Security Council to support related projects. This step reflects the Kingdom's pioneering role in enhancing regional and international security and embodies its commitments to providing tangible and effective support.
Bourita also indicated that Morocco will provide direct humanitarian support through the establishment of a field hospital to deliver urgent health services to residents affected by the war, affirming that this commitment reflects the royal vision for promoting social peace and the humanitarian treatment of crises.
The Moroccan initiative is not isolated from its regional context. The Kingdom has set clear parameters to ensure the success of this vision by emphasizing that the stability of the West Bank is no less important than Gaza, forming an essential pillar for any peace effort. It also positively engages with international visions (such as President Trump's vision) while upholding constants related to Palestinian rights.
These steps cannot be separated from the utmost importance accorded by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to the Palestinian cause through action-oriented diplomacy rather than mere words. This includes continuous medical and humanitarian aid reaching Gaza directly, funding residential and social projects through the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, and quiet mediation aimed at preserving the legal and historical status of holy sites.
Thanks to its multifaceted relations (with Washington, Tel Aviv, and the Palestinian Authority), Morocco has become the "sole player" capable of operating in gray areas that other countries cannot access. This expanded approach has made Rabat a "safety valve" ensuring international peace plans stay on track toward the two-state solution.
Morocco's announcement of readiness to deploy police forces and field hospitals in Gaza represents "resolute diplomacy" that places the Kingdom at the heart of future solutions, affirming it is not merely an observer but a partner in building peace and a guarantor of regional security sustainability.
Analyses indicate that Morocco's 2026 approach to Gaza is an "approach of action and results." It combines the surgeon's scalpel (the field hospital), the professional policeman's baton (security training), and the diplomat's wisdom (the Peace Council), all under the umbrella of the entrenched royal commitment.
