Official data reveals truth about discovery of Moroccan child’s body after mysterious disappearance
RABAT - The disappearance of six-year-old Mona, from me Ait Hamama hamlet in the Itzer commune of the Midelt region, has caused great sadness among the residents and the local public, at a time when some parties have tried to exploit the tragedy to spread biased and baseless narratives.
An immediate large-scale search and combing operation was launched, which included the surrounding area and nearby paths, with the participation of various authorities.
The body of the child was found on Wednesday afternoon near Wadi Bouhafs in the Tamlaht neighborhood of the Zaida community, about 20 kilometers from the place of disappearance.
Initial investigations indicate that the girl died after being swept away by floodwaters in the wadi, which explains why her body was found relatively far from where she disappeared. Authorities also confirmed that the body was intact and showed no signs of assault or organ harvesting, refuting rumors circulating on social media.
Within the framework of legal procedures, the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Appeal in Errachidia oversaw a thorough investigation entrusted to the Royal Gendarmerie's judicial unit in Midelt to precisely determine the circumstances of the incident.
The child's body was transferred to Moulay Ali Cherif Regional Hospital in Errachidia for an autopsy. This tragedy underscores the importance of relying on official sources when disseminating news, especially in sensitive cases that affect families’ sentiments and public opinion, to avoid spreading misinformation that could exacerbate the family's suffering and complicate the investigation.
